ETBC
European Technical Bootcamp 2019
The eBITUG 2017 event in London was a big success and everyone on the BITUG Committee will be doing our best to ensure ETBC 2019 in Edinburgh will be even better.
We've booked the event space at The Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh (part of the Marriott group) for the 14-15th May 2019. The event space is larger than we had in London, so moving around during lunch and coffee breaks will be easier. The main plenary room is also wider than London, so attendees won't have to be so far from the presenters.
The conference will start with a traditional Tandem Beer Bust on the evening of Monday 13th May. However, we want this to be a bit more special than a usual pub/exhibition area drinks. It will be sponsored exclusively by our Platinum sponsors and will be held at the famous BrewDog pub on Festival Square, adjacent to the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh City Centre. Delegates will have a chance to hear the story of BrewDog, sample various craft beers, enjoy some food and say hi to fellow NonStoppers before we get down to business on the morning of the 14th. We’d also like to offer our Platinum sponsors the opportunity to give away a prize (in addition to Passport to Prizes) in a raffle to all those who attend the Beer Bust.
We'll have a job topping the CSP night at The Shard in 2017, but we have something a little bit Scottish and different planned for the evening of 14th we'll be taking a 15 minute walk up the hill toward the famous Edinburgh Castle. Adjacent to the Castle is the Hub, which was built by the Church of Scotland in the early 1840s, but was never actually consecrated as a church. It is now the home of the Edinburgh International Festival and will be the venue for our ‘Taste of Scotland’ Gala Dinner. A traditional Scottish night of food, drink and some ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) dancing. There will be a drinks reception while everyone arrives, we'll then be lead up through the Sculpture Hallway to the spectacular main hall. After a four course meal, a live ceilidh band will provide the music and professional dancers will show you the moves and give some tuition. For those who don't fancy dancing, you can grab a drink and head up to the 360 degree gallery and watch the fun going on below.
Edinburgh is a beautiful city with lots to see and do. As a result, it's also extremely popular with tourists, so hotel rates are on a par with London. We've got a conference hotel event rate of £240 per night for single occupancy or £260 for double. We appreciate they are not exactly cheap and there are of course several alternatives within a few minutes walk, so there should be something available to suit all budgets.
We hope this has given you a taste of what's to come. When you mix in an agenda packed with great sessions and presentations, it should guarantee an ETBC to remember.

Floorplan and booth layout
The flow of people around the Vendor Showcase should be pretty even, with the lifts/toilets coming off one corner, the breakout rooms in another corner and the main Plenary room at the opposite end, so there aren't really any quiet spots. The space will be dotted with poseur tables and a few chairs/sofas.
The food and drinks position is yet to be confirmed, but the options are: to the left of the Atrium (between Platinum Table 1 and Silver Table 4), to the right of the Atrium (between Platinum Tables 5 and 6) or most likely a combination of both.
It's worth noting the area in front of the Plenary room (including Gold Tables 8-12 and Platinum table 6) has a slightly lower ceiling height and doesn't get as much natural light as the rest of the space. So for anyone who chooses those areas you may want to consider adding some form of illumination to your signage if you don't already have it - example here.

Conference Bag
It is our intention to give every eBITUG 2019 attendee a high quality laptop backpack embroidered with the eBITUG and sponsor logos.
Because the cost of the bag is not fully covered by the logo sponsorship income, were not able to 100% confirm the bag at this time. As we get closer to the event and we have a better idea of what funds are available, we’ll then be able to look at bag specifications and make this a sponsorship opportunity.
If you’re interested in becoming a bag sponsor (we expect the cost will be around £2,000) then please register your interest by sending a message to: collin.yates @ bitug.com
