BITUG Chairman's Chat (Autumn 2013)
As we head towards Christmas (yes, so soon), and I start getting ready to hand over the stewardship of BITUG, I do so with a tinge of sadness. I have to say that it has been both a pleasure and an honour to Chair this year; knowing that one is serving the best interests of the community (or at least trying to) is a great feeling, and I thank all of you for that chance – wasn’t it Henry Ford who once said “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success”? I firmly believe that BITUG is successful because we do exactly that; we come together, we keep together and we work together – and I sincerely thank all of the committee members for all of their hard work and commitment over the past 12 months (remember that these guys do this in their own time and for free!).
However, my time is up and the baton has to be passed on, and I wish my successor all the best for 2014, but enough of this drivel, you want to hear about the interesting stuff - so here goes…
THE BIG SIG IS COMING!
Education Day – Wednesday 4th December, HP Offices – Wood Street.
Evening Event – Wednesday 4th December, The Minories (www.minories-london.co.uk)
BIG SIG – Thursday 5th December, Trinity House, London
The format this year for BIG SIG is the tried and tested 3 tracks - covering Application Modernisation, HP & Infrastructure/Migrations.
TBC (Technical Boot Camp)
Technical boot camp this year will be held in San Jose, CA on November 3-5 and is a truly Nonstop event – not to be missed. As a taster, this year’s event will feature over 50 Technical Sessions, Partner Pavilion, Vendor Theaters, Nonstop SIG Meetings: SQL/MX, Security/Audit, Open SIG, and of course the good old Nonstop Availability Award Presentations. See www.connect-community.org/?TBC2013 for further details.
